Situated 8Km North of the Bastide town of Lalinde which lies on the banks of the river Dordogne, La Terre des Bois is  ideally located surrounded by woodland and forest walks. Summer here starts early with fabulous Springtime in March, April and  early May, followed by long hot summers and glorious ,colourful, Autumn weather.

Lalinde is a typical French Bastide town with its square, restaurants and small local shops. The colourful weekly market is on Thursday mornings and  not to be missed, here you can purchase  fresh local produce  including cheeses, pate and wine. Lalinde also has a Mountain Bike Hire  Centre, great for exploring the miles of woodland tracks.

The lovely old town of Bergerac is a 20 minutes drive to the West, also located on the banks of the river Dordogne, an important port during the 13th century when in 1254 Henry 111 of England gave the locals tax exemption the right of assembly and unhindered wine trade with Bordeaux. Today Bergerac is still famous for its vineyards such as Pecharment and Monbazillac.

To the East is the picturesque medieval town of Sarlat with it's 15th and 16th century houses built with golden stone and lauze tiles, a beautifully restored town with excellent restaurants in the main square.  The drive to Sarlat  follows  the river  with perfect places to stop for a picnic lunch and take time to be amazed at the sights of the Chateaux perched high above the river valley.

The Vezere valley is a 15 minute drive, famed for it's prehistoric sites and now a UNESCO world heritage site,  the centre of these being Les Eyzies, where the first signs of human habitation in the Vezere valley date from around 400,000 years ago.

La Terre des Bois is surrounded by wonderful woodland walks, a choice of excellent restaurants within a few minutes drive, 2 golf courses , canoeing , water sports and horse riding  are all readily available.  For those who just wish for a quiet, lazy  time around the pool with a good book and glass of wine, this beautiful area of France is the perfect place to unwind and relax.
